McCall MacBain Scholarships to Study in Canada, 2023-2024

Applications are currently being received for the McCall MacBain scholarships to study in Canada. Created in February 2019 by John McCall MacBain and Marcy McCall MacBain through a landmark gift of $200 million, the McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill are Canada’s first leadership-driven scholarship for master’s and professional degree students. These scholarships are an investment in students who are developing expertise in their respective fields, have a track record of taking initiative, and seek to collaborate with others to understand and address important problems and challenges.

This Canada scholarship is opened to all disciplines and available for candidates who are planning to apply for Fall 2024 admission to a full-time Master’s or second-entry professional undergraduate program at McGill University. Programs with Summer 2024 admission only are also acceptable. The program must consist of 45 credits or more and take place primarily on one of McGill’s two campuses.

McCall MacBain Scholars are asked to bring openness and commitment to learning from one another. The program is Fully funded and covers tuition and fees for the full normal duration of the master’s or professional program, a living stipend of $2,000 CAD per month during academic terms, a relocation grant for moving to Montréal plus finalist awards. Scholars will come together as a cohort during annual summer retreats, bi-weekly seminars, and monthly speaker series, and connect with global thinkers through an annual Principal’s Lecture, workshops, and other events while studying in one of the world’s greatest multicultural and multilingual cities.

McCall MacBain Scholarships Benefits

Around 30 scholarships will be awarded under this scholarship program. This Canada scholarship will cover:

Tuition and fees for the full normal duration of the master’s or professional program;
A living stipend of $2,000 per month during academic terms;
and a relocation grant for moving to Montréal.

As a McCall MacBain Scholarship candidate, you are eligible for additional scholarships. About 100 finalist and regional awards will be offered to candidates who distinguish themselves during the interview process: 55 Finalist Awards of $10,000 (Canadian applicants) or $20,000 (International applicants) each, for master’s or professional studies at McGill University; 45 Regional awards of $5,000 (Canadian applicants) or $10,000 (International applicants) each, for graduate studies at any public university in Canada.

McCall MacBain Scholarships Eligibility

To apply for scholarship, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

are a current student on track to earn your first bachelor’s degree by August 2024
have earned your first bachelor’s degree in the last five years (January 2018 or later)
earned your first bachelor’s degree more than five years ago, and are 30 years or younger in 2023

Applicants also need to meet the minimum degree and language requirements for McGill master’s program admission.

Graduate certificates, executive master’s programs, PhDs, joint degree programs, qualifying-year studies, and programs that take place outside of Montreal are examples of programs not covered by this scholarship.
