Candidates can now apply for the Singapore University of Technology and Design Scholarships. These scholarships programs to study in Asia have been created to support PhD students as well as masters of engineering students at the university and thereby recruiting the best talents in the world. Applicants from all parts of the world are welcome to apply for the program.
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) has strong research links to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Zhejiang University. Therefore, it offers its Ph.D. and master of engineering students a unique chance to collaborate with the best minds in their fields and conduct breakthrough research that will make a difference in the world. Students who successfully complete the program will graduate with a Master of Engineering (MEng) or a Doctor of Philosophy degree under the respective academic track.

Singapore University of Technology and Design Scholarships Benefits
The Singapore University of Technology and Design Scholarships offers the following in-house scholarships on a competitive basis to outstanding full-time PhD and master of engineering program applicants.
A – SUTD President’s Graduate Fellowship (PhD)
Awardees will receive a scholarship for up to 4 years covering the followings:
- Full tuition fees
- Monthly stipend of:
- S$3,600 (Singapore Citizens)
- S$3,400 (Singapore Permanent Residents)
- S$3,100 (International Students)
- CPF contribution (Singapore Citizens only)
- International Students must perform teaching/laboratory supervision duties to fulfill the requirements for the subsidized fees.
B – SUTD PhD Fellowship
Awardees will receive a scholarship for up to 4 years covering the following items:
- Full tuition fees
- Monthly stipend of:
- S$2,800, (Singapore Citizens);
- S$2,400, (Singapore Permanent Residents);
- S$2,200, (International Students);
- Scholars who pass the PhD Qualifying Examination will be eligible for an additional stipend of up to S$500 per month. The additional stipend is renewable each term, subject to good performance. The University reserves the right to suspend the stipend at any time due to poor academic or research performance.
- CPF contribution (Singapore Citizens only)
- International Students must perform teaching/laboratory supervision duties to fulfill the requirements for the subsidized fees.
C – SUTD MEng (Research) Fellowship
Awardees will receive a scholarship for up to 18 months covering the followings:
- Full tuition fees
- Monthly stipend of:
- S$2,800, (Singapore Citizens);
- S$2,000, (Singapore Permanent Residents);
- S$1,900, (International Students);
- CPF contribution (Singapore Citizens only)
- International Students must perform teaching/laboratory supervision duties to fulfill the requirements for the subsidized fees.
SUTD manages the following scholarship for full-time PhD Program applicants:
D – Economic Development Board (EDB) Industrial Postgraduate Programme (IPP)
The EDB-IPP provides Singapore Citizens/ Permanent Residents with postgraduate training in a corporate R&D environment through EDB’s partnership with selected companies and with SUTD.

- Full tuition fees
- Monthly salary & CPF contribution (remuneration determined by company).
E – SUTD-DSO Graduate Fellowship (SDGF)
The SDGF is a premier graduate fellowship by Temasek Labs@SUTD (TL@SUTD) and DSO National Laboratories which aims to attract Singaporean graduates to nurture them in defense and security research & development (R&D) with a goal to develop future technical thought leaders in our defense ecosystem.
- Open to Singapore Citizens only
- 4 years of full tuition fee
- 4 years of employment as a research staff in TL@SUTD
- Exposure to defense ecosystem with internship opportunities at local Defense Technology Community (DTC) partners
Singapore University of Technology and Design Scholarships Eligibility
To be eligible for this university scholarship, Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- All nationalities are welcome to apply for the scholarship;
- Have at least a Bachelor’s degree or above with excellent academic standing;
- Have proficiency in English (IELTS or TOEFL is required if English is not your medium of instruction in your studies);
- Meet your program-specific requirements.

How to Apply for the Singapore University of Technology and Design Scholarship?
Please submit your application by clicking the apply button and following the instructions. Candidates must prepare the following documents:
- Original Undergraduate and/or Master’s degree transcript and certificate soft copies.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score report. If the medium of instruction during your undergraduate studies was not in English, you must submit your IELTS or TOEFL scores no later than 2 weeks after the application deadline.
- Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) score report (Not required, but highly recommended).
- Names, titles & e-mail addresses of THREE academic referees: Your academic referees must be able to gauge your scholastic capabilities and achievements and your ability to complete the program. It is advisable to notify your academic referees beforehand as they must submit their respective online recommendations within 1 week of your PhD application submission.
- Relevant supporting documents: Soft copies or web links to academic and/or industry portfolio, awards, publications, etc.
- Relevant pages in your Passport or Your Singaporean Identity Card (NRIC) for Singaporeans.
- Your Statement of Objectives (3,000 words) soft copy.
